Units Scale

French Toast

  • 4 slices French Butter Brioche Bread
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Allspice
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
  • 2 tbsp Dark Brown Sugar

Apple Compote

  • 1 Granny Smith Apple (peeled & diced)
  • 1 tsp Flour
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Dark Brown Sugar
  • Zest & Juice from half a Lemon

Instructions

Apple Compote

  1. Starting with your apple compote, peel & quarter your apples. Cut out the core, and dice the apple up into fine pieces.
  2. Add apples into a bowl with your flour, cinnamon, lemon juice and zest. Mix until well combined.
  3. Heat up a small sauce pan and add the brown sugar and butter. Let the sugar dissolve, and then add in your apples. Mix over medium heat on let cook for five minutes. Cover with a lid and let cook for an additional 5 minutes.

French Toast

  1. In a shallow dish, combine your eggs, milk, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves. Whisk together until it is well combined.
  2. Heat up a large skillet with butter (enough to coat the bottom of the pan).
  3. Dip your brioche bread into the french toast mixture for 5 seconds on each side, and place into your hot skillet.
  4. Allow your french toast to brown on both sides for about 3-5 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove french toast from the pan, slice in half, spoon some of your apple compote on top, and finish off with powdered sugar to dress it up if you like. Enjoy!
