Hi, my name is Speshyl!
Welcome to “The Daily Speshyl”! I’m Speshyl Smith, a culinary enthusiast whose love affair with food began at the tender age of 8. While I was immersed in cartoons, I also found my joy watching the Food Network. Shows like Good Eats with Alton Brown, Iron Chef America, Emeril Live with Emeril Lagasse, and Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten became my childhood favorites.
Growing up, my kitchen was a bustling haven where I absorbed culinary magic by watching my mom and dad cook. Their passion inspired me, and soon, I was exploring the world of flavors on my own. It wasn’t just about the recipes; it was a journey of learning and savoring every moment.
Starting This Blog, Culinary School, & Life as A Personal Chef
Fast forward to 2018, and “The Daily Speshyl” was born—a blog that started as a passion project while navigating a 9-5 job. In 2020, I decided to turn my lifelong love for food into a profession, enrolling in the Institute of Culinary Education and graduating in 2021.
My culinary adventure led me to the renowned Michelin Starred Restaurant Gramercy Tavern, where I refined my skills. Transitioning into personal cheffing, I had the honor of creating culinary experiences for notable clients, including Professional Basketball Player Derrick Rose.
Now, I’m here to share not just recipes but the kitchen wisdom, tips, and tricks I’ve accumulated over the years. Join me in exploring the art of cooking, rooted in a childhood passion that has blossomed into a flavorful journey.
What To Expect From This Blog
Believing that everyone is capable of not only learning how to cook but how to cook WELL, I see cooking as a positive tool. It provides feelings of self-care and mindfulness, creates bonding experiences for you and your family, and builds connections and communities.
“The Daily Speshyl” is not just about recipes; it’s about using cooking as a tool for positivity. I want to connect with you not only through culinary adventures but through life experiences as well.
